SMILE pro?
The latest SMILE LASIK, evolved one step further
SMILE pro is a next-generation vision correction procedure that keeps the strength of conventional SMILE LASIK (a minimal 2 mm incision)
while dramatically improving safety, accuracy, and recovery speed.
With a shorter surgery time and a precise astigmatism correction system,
you can expect safer and more comfortable vision correction results.
An innovation in speed and precision, built on 16 years of data
From VISUMAX 500 to 800
SMILE LASIK has been performed with the VISUMAX 500 system from Zeiss, Germany.
SMILE pro is performed with the VISUMAX 800, a fully upgraded system
built on the extensive clinical know-how gained with that system.

This innovation in equipment is the decisive reason it carries the name ‘pro’,
and it sets a new standard that goes beyond the performance limits of conventional SMILE LASIK.
SMILE vs SMILE pro

SMILE pro is not simply a new name.
It has advanced in the key factors that determine the safety, accuracy, and recovery speed of surgery.

SMILE pro SMILE
System VISUMAX 800 VISUMAX 500
Laser time Approx. 8 seconds Approx. 25 seconds
Astigmatism axis alignment Automatic (OcuLign) Manual marking
Astigmatism correction accuracy Clear correction from moderate to high astigmatism Somewhat reduced clarity in high astigmatism
HAZE* 1–2 days (same-day recovery in some cases) 2–3 days (over 1 week in some cases)
Risk of suction loss* ~0.01% ~0.1%
*What is HAZE?
It is ‘corneal haze’, a clouding of the cornea that occurs as the corneal wound heals.
With the improved precision of the SMILE pro laser, HAZE has been reduced.
*What is suction loss?
It is when the pressure of the suction ring placed on the eye is released during laser treatment, so the cornea is no longer held in place.
With its shorter laser time, SMILE pro lowers the risk of suction loss.
Features of SMILE pro
  • Quality of vision perfected with OcuLign

A technology unique to SMILE pro.
The OcuLign function automatically detects and corrects
subtle rotation of the astigmatism axis during surgery. By minimizing residual astigmatism without manual marking,
it lets you experience the sharpest, clearest quality of vision after surgery.

  • Precision scanning: an innovation of just 10 seconds

Laser time has been shortened to about 10 seconds.
The shorter the surgery, the less the patient’s tension and eye movement,
reducing intraoperative risks such as suction loss.

  • The value of ‘pro’, felt in a single day

The more precise laser of the 800 system separates the corneal stroma
evenly, minimizing damage to surrounding tissue.
As a result, the risk of early blurriness is lower than with conventional SMILE, and
although recovery speed after surgery varies from person to person,
a quick return to daily life may be possible depending on your progress.

Even with the same latest equipment,
results differ depending on the skill and experience of the medical team.

Why Clear Seoul Eye Clinic for SMILE pro, too?
  • POINT. 01
The potential of the latest equipment
is ultimately realized in the hands of the medical team.

Clear Seoul Eye Clinic already has extensive clinical experience and know-how
with SMILE LASIK. This accumulated data and expertise form the key foundation
for achieving the most stable and accurate surgical results
with the latest VISUMAX 800 system.

  • POINT. 02
    Mastering the latest technology
depends on the medical team’s understanding.

Ophthalmology is a field where advanced technology and experience matter above all.
A medical team that continually researches and applies its knowledge
to bring out the full potential of SMILE pro
raises the quality of the surgery.

Who is SMILE pro recommended for?
Those with significant astigmatism
who need precise correction
Those who want to minimize
anxiety during surgery
Working professionals and students who need
a quick recovery and return to daily life
Those who want to minimize concerns
about side effects with the latest technology
SMILE pro Q&A
Q : Why is a
shorter laser surgery time better?
The shorter the surgery, the less the patient’s tension and eye movement, dramatically lowering the risk of unexpected events such as suction loss, when the laser suction ring comes loose. Faster means safer and more precise.
Q : Do you recommend SMILE pro
over SMILE LASIK?
Clear Seoul Eye Clinic has extensive experience with both procedures.
Technically, SMILE pro is clearly a next-generation procedure with upgraded safety and accuracy.
However, the final decision should take into account your corneal thickness, degree of myopia/astigmatism, lifestyle, and budget as a whole.
Q : What is the
biggest advantage of SMILE pro?
With the addition of the OcuLign function, which automatically corrects the astigmatism axis, the accuracy of astigmatism correction is maximized.
Its biggest advantage is therefore that it can provide a clean, sharp field of view without residual astigmatism, even for people with high astigmatism.
